Kiska |
Breed: Karelian Bear Dog | Gender: Female |
Favorite Food: Kiska has just switched to Flint River Ranch chunk. |
Favorite Activities: They must have a "job" to do or they get bored. Kska's job is spending time in the woods with us and keeping any coyotes, wolves, or black bears away. |
Favorite Place to Sleep: She sleeps inside at night and spends alot of time with me outside or in her 90 x 180 foot kennel. |
Story: Kiska Kelder is a purebred Karelian Bear Dog. She was imported from Denmark and came into the USA in September of 2011. There were about 40 of these dogs left in Europe after WWII. The breed is a very primitive breed, descendants were wolves. The breed is extremely intelligent, loyal, and trusting once they trust you! They are working dogs and will not do well in apartment life. They are great with children. They need exercise daily, best fit would be in a cool climate with lots of land to be with their owners. There are some breeders in the USA but he careful, many sell KBD's that have been crossed with a Russo European Laike. |
